Partner Organizations
Our project partner in Nicaragua, the Campesino a Campesino
Program (PCAC), is a horizontal technical assistance and
training program with extensive field experience working with
campesinos throughout most of the country, with 2,000 trained
community extentionists and 80 regional and local offices. PCAC
assists the campesino to become more productive and to implement
sustainable farming practices. They have successfully introduced
programs of integrated pest management and productive shade
management for coffee farmers, coffee pulp to fertilizer
programs, organic farming techniques, sesame seed production, as
well as animal husbandry programs: inoculation, artificial
insemination, etc. The program assists and promotes campesinos
to become field researchers and trainers for their communities.
Campesino a Campesino receives financial assistance largely from
the European Economic Community and technical support from the
European NGOs including Oxfam UK.
